MARKETING OF THE LODGE

The marketing committee and the lodge committee can coordinate and post  a scheduled calendar of events to the web site.  Current events include September biking, October hiking, Canoe, Kayaking.  The board members  should be encouraged to organize events at the lodge. Start to organize family weeks.  There are a lot of Summer activities.  Diane Emmick listed events on the web. There was a lot of use by people out of state compared to CNY.

LODGE RATES

Due to heating fuel increases and taxes.  Income vs. expenses. The rates have been increased at the lodge in the past.  John’s objection that the board has a responsibility to determine whether or not the lodge should be self-supporting or not.  If yes, raise room rent. They may need to be increased again. There is no place in Vermont  that is as inexpensive. How much do we want to increase it by? People are looking at reason to not go to the lodge in correlation with driving expense, It may give a reason for people not to go. In the end a 10% increase ($2.00 Dorm,$4.00 Private room) was decided on. It is hoped that the rate increase along with increased lodge attendance will offset the higher expenses. The new rate will not apply to current reservations on the books.        Reservations made after December 1st will incur new rate. In the long term, we need to increase occupancy to make up the short fall.

COMPENSATION FOR RICHARD EATON

As caretaker at the lodge he has performed minor maintenance, cut the lawn and plowed

snow in the parking lot.  The Mr.& Mrs. Eaton  were guests at last work weekends dinner where he voiced concern about his fuel costs. Mr. Eaton's work is critical to the functioning of the lodge, therefore Ken made a motion to increase Richard Eaton's compensation $100. to help cover his costs. The motion was passed.
