Long Range Planning
The Long Range Planning Committee was created in 2004 by then President, Scott Severance. It was charged with comming up with a plan to address the major issues facing the Onondaga Ski Club that would carry the club successfully into the forseable future. The paragraphs that follow outline the committee's efforts.
The Committee met for the first time on June 3, 2004. Several meetings were conducted to define the issues, gather information, and gather proposed solutions to the issues.
Since the Lodge plays such a large role in the clubs activities and finances, detailed information needed to be gathered about its useage and financial performance. A survey was then conducted to ascertain Lodge membership useage, and a studies conducted to ascertain the Lodges annual usage patterns, and historical financial performance.
Having gathered sufficient information, a series of articles was then written and published in the club news letter to raise membership awareness of the issues facing the club.
The culmination of the committee's efforts was the presentaion of a detailed proposed business plan to the Board of Directors in November, 2007 and conveyance of the plan to the membership by it's publication in the club's December 2007 news letter.
Execution and shaping of the business plan started with a series of four motions presented for consideration by the Board in December 2007.
The paragraphs that follow detail the evolution of this process and provide detailed background information that support the plan.
