Secretary’s Report- accepted
Treasurer’s report- accepted. There was some discussion on making certain that there is adequate cash flow to pay for the trips. Concerning the Innsbruck trip, Scott assured the board that the deposit is fully refundable until December 17. John requested a schedule of payments that have to go to the travel agents so all payments run smoothly. Tom’s report for April was accepted separately.
Introduction of Chris Watson- Scott introduced Chris who will be completing a one year term on the board. Chris works as screen printer for apparel. He is also a music teacher and is involved in a number of outdoor activities. One of his favorite places is Lake Lila. The board approved his appointment. Chris’ e-mail address is cwatson1@hotmail.com After Chris’ appointment; the board introduced themselves individually.
Membership- There is 582 members. We mail to 500 households and commercial establishments. There is one Boomer per household. Jack sent out a current membership list with all members on it. Since some members have indicated that they do not want their information publicized on the internet so the list sent to board members lists has information that is not available on the internet.
The Younger crowd- Scott met with the groups Edge and Spark. We are offering the Lodge to this group on Columbus Day weekend (October 8-10) so we can introduce them to the lodge and stimulate interest in the area and the club. Tom made a motion that we reserve the Lodge for the leadership of CNY Spark and Edge on Columbus Day Weekend. The motion was passed.
Outings- The annual trip to Covewood will be held on September 9-11. The trip fee is $130.00. Jane brought some photos of Bob Lake’s outing at Poolsbook on May 15th. It included a BBQ, biking and boating. She also bought photos of Charlotte Buskey’s Memorial Day picnic. The trip to Kayuta Lake in May went very well. There will be a bike outing to Aurora lead by Janice Farrelly on June 12. Also there is a planned trip to Cape Vincent/Wolfe Island/Kingston on June 18. Jan Carr added that Lynn Miller is looking into a golf outing at a private club called Brown’s Greens on the south shore of Lake Ontario. The first outing would be on a Friday night and there would be a dinner at Rogue’s Roost. If this is successful, an entire day of golf will be offered.
Long Range Planning Committee- The next meeting will be June 21st at Scott’s office at 7PM. Marv pointed out that the committee wants to “think outside the box”.
This is a summary of the LRPC minutes-
1. The cost of the Boomer per member is $14.00 so the committee is looking into ways to decrease this cost. The committee established action plans to look at layout, printing and mailing. Households that wish a paper Boomer will be assessed an additional $10 to pay for the cost of printing and mailing. The rest of the club will have access to an E-Boomer.
2. The committee looked into reducing the number of business meetings to 2 a year. Socializing would be done at biking, skiing, Happy Hours etc…
3. The Membership Chair should be under the Vice President so the position can be expanded.
Lodge- Bill reported that it was quiet right now at the lodge. Lloyd House donated a bike to the lodge that can be used by anyone. Helmets, innertubes, etc will be available. Dick reported that the spongy floor upstairs has been fixed. There has been lighting added to the outside. The lodge has been thoroughly cleaned inside and out.
Trips- The trip to Innsbruck will be held February 18-26. It will be $1,100 plus taxes and extras. The trip to Aspen will be January 14-21, 2006. Lodging will be in town near the lifts. The cost will be about $1400. The trip to Tremblant will be March 17-20. The change this year will that the bus will leave at 1 instead of 4PM so there will be an extra evening in Tremblant. The cost will be $440 with a $90 deduction for non skiers. Leo is looking into a trip to Gore Mountain that would be combined with a new resort that has an indoor beach. Mary reported that there would be 2 cross-country trips- one to Far Hills during Martin Luther King weekend in January. There is also a trip scheduled for Garnet Hill the third or fourth week in January.
Social- Happy Hour will be Tuesday June 28h at the Blue Water Café in Baldwinsville at 5:30 Pm. The next night out is Friday June 10 at Kitty Hoynes. Cocktails will be at 5:30 and dinner at 6:30.
.
Capitol District Ski Council- Leo is getting information on the Capitol District Ski Council. They were concerned about the distance that we are from the Capitol region. They also wanted to know what we would add to the council. Leo feels that by joining the council our members would get additional benefits.
Families on ski trips- Scott recommended that we allow children on trips as part of a family for no additional joining charge. Tom Button made a motion that children be allowed to accompany parents / grandparents or guardians of members on OSC family sponsored trips. The motion was passed.
Summer Meetings- Bill Beaudin made a motion to suspend the July and August meetings. Tom amended the motion to eliminate the July meeting only. The motion was passed to eliminate the July meeting only.
Financial Report- Terry made a motion to publish our financial condition via the Boomer- One at the year’s end and another 6 months later. The motion was passed.
The meeting was adjourned at 9:09 PM.
Respectfully submitted
Anne Sonne, Recording Secretary
