Secretary’s Report:  Approved as submitted.

Treasurer’s Report:  Accepted as presented. The treasurer explained the design of his monthly report to the new board members. The $1,000 refund check for the Aspen trip has not yet been received.

Corresponding Secretary’s Report: Get-well cards were sent to two members who are ill: Helen Richardson and Bill Farrell.

Committee Reports

-- Membership: 538 members (includes 8 junior members). Most elected to receive the Boomer electronically; 54 newsletters were mailed in April. Since January 1 we signed up 39 new members.

-- Communications: Per Arley, the web site has been renewed for a couple more years.

-- Lodge: The lodge committee is in the process of doing a number of safety upgrades. Some of the solid doors have been installed in the bedrooms. The new alarm system is hooked up and running. Instructions on what to do if the alarm goes off accidentally, such as how to reset it, will be posted. Work weekend is May 19-20; 12 are going up to work.

At last week’s lodge committee meeting, the following decisions were made:

1. to raise the rates again as of September 15 to $40 per private room, $20 per dorm bed;

2. lodge trip organizers will get free accommodations this summer with a group of 12, excluding the July 4 weekend;

3. the two family weekends this summer will be July 8-9 and August 19-20.

-- Trips: At this point, two trips are in the planning stages for next winter: Stowe later part of February; Mt. Tremblant in March; still looking for other weekend and day trips. Leo attended a SkiCan meeting and in conversations with other ski clubs represented learned that all have the same problems we have in filling trips. There is interest in combining trips or taking turns running a western trip. Leo wants to form a trip committee and then schedule a planning meeting as soon as possible.

John Whelan will run a Covewood trip Sept. 8-10. Mike McCabe invited members to his camp in North Creek for paddle fest later this month.

-- Adopt a Highway: A successful highway clean up day was held April 29 with 12 members participating.

-- Book Discussion: The Kite Runner will be discussed at a meeting June 15 at Charlotte Buskey’s house. Dianne Emmick is leading the discussion.

-- Biking: Good turn-out for the Wednesday bike rides that started in April; also a successful bike outing last Sunday at Jan Carr’s.

-- Golfing: Has started.

-- Tennis: Started Monday, May 1.

-- Social: Spring fling at Fireside is May 20; Norm should be contacted for reservations. Next Happy Hour: Links at Erie Village on Thursday, May 25

Old Business:  Mary Clay was informed that the plaques on the two benches we had sponsored at Onondaga Lake Park have been removed. Apparently the time has expired.

New Business:  President Tom welcomed new officers and board members Dick, Mark, Scott, Christa, and Kay. The now vacant 1st vice president position must be filled and Tom will contact possible candidates suggested by the board.

Marvin Patnode has offered to print out updated by-laws. The cost of printing will be investigated before a decision is made. The by-laws can be viewed on the OSC web site.

There being no further business to discus, the meeting was adjourned at 8:15 pm.

Respectfully submitted:

Christa Foster,

Recording Secretary
