Treasurer’s report- accepted
Membership- There are 574 members. We mail to 493 households and commercial establishments. There is one Boomer per household.
Outings- Terry suggested that John Whelan be the central person to go through for outings. There is a canoe/kayak trip scheduled May 7th to Kayuta Lake. The annual trip to Covewood will be held on September 9-11. The trip fee is $130.00. Bob Lake will be having an outing at Poolsbook on May 15th. It will include a BBQ, biking and boating.
Long Range Planning Committee- The committee discussed disseminating the Boomer over the website on a regular basis. Since the Boomer is produced in color, when it is downloaded from the website it can be printed in color on individual computers. It was suggested for those members who do not have access to a computer, the Boomer could be produced at a cost premium of approximately $10.00 a year. This will be presented to the membership at the meetings. Also by using the computer, we would be able to increase the amount of material currently available in the Boomer and it will help prevent duplication of information that is now printed in the Boomer. There was some discussion on whether everyone having access to the newsletter would have and negative effect on our membership. Scott commented that there are many reasons to join the club other than having access to the Boomer. Arley added that the website has a large memory capability and that we can retain a great deal of information on it such as a year’s worth of Boomers.
Lodge- Bill reported that there were 528 rentals last year. There were 209 rentals in the men’s dorm and 79 in the women’s dorm. Based on these figures, the projected income for next year will be $12,750. The currents rates are $16.00 and $34.00. The weekend of May7/8 is work weekend. Basically the lodge committee thoroughly cleans the lodge and prepares it for the upcoming season. The members of the committee are the Butlers, Beaudins, Smiths, Kurt Londhair, Lou Wassel, Dianne Emmick and the Fosters. Work weekend is limited to about 12 people so that time can be used efficiently.
Trips- Jeff Jacobs is looking into a scuba diving trip. More to come on that later. Scott is running a trip to Innsbrook from February 18 to 26. The cost of the trip will be $1200 and is limited to 25 people. There are ski eight areas nearby and while the cost of skiing is not included in the trip, it is very reasonable to buy lift tickets. Scott needs to front $2500 for the trip. The Board voted to front up to $3000 for the trip which is refundable up to December 17 (subject to approval by the trip committee). Bruce Way is looking into leading a trip to Aspen. Karen Whedon is going to check into the feasibility of a golf outing at Bristol Harbor. She is looking into rates and dates.
Social- Happy Hour will be Tuesday May 17th at Colorado Mining Co and Tuesday, June 28 at the Blue Water Grill in Baldwinsville.
Budget- Tom Button reviewed the budget, which was given to each member. Scott made a motion to accept the budget. The motion was passed.
New Board Member- Kay mentioned that we need to elect one more member to the board. Scott thought that Lisa Riposa may be interested and it would be a way to interest some of the “younger” set in the workings of the club. This could be done by an e-mail vote.
Marv commended the board on its willingness to work today in a harmonious way to achieve goals.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:45 PM.
Respectfully submitted
Anne Sonne, Recording Secretary
