Membership- Presently there are 580 members.

The Younger Crowd- Scott will be meeting with representatives of the Edge this coming week to insure a successful collaboration with the Ski Club

Outings- Since the snow has fallen there have been a number of ski outings including ones to Green Lakes and the BREA trails.  There is an entire schedule of crosscountry outings listed in the Boomer. Both experienced and new skiers are welcome to these events.  The trip to Garnet Hill was a great success in spite of the frigid temps.  Terry Avery will be leading a crosscountry outing to Big Otter Lake near Old Forge next Saturday the 5th.

Long Term Planning-   A complete report of the committee will be attached.  However Marv highlighted these figures- 69% of applications contained birthdates, 22% were interested in an E-Boomer, 70% have e-mail, 40% do not want their addresses on the website, 11% live outside of NYS, 48% have stayed at the lodge. Marv gave me a disk that included the info from Mike McCabe on financial matters and also the minutes from the long range planning committee.

Trips- Leo reported that the Tremblant trip is filled and ready to go.

Karen Whedon suggested looking into a “Dude Ranch” in the Adirondacks for a club trip.

Pizza Party at Lab- The pizza party will be at Lab- Feb 2.

Social- We need to gather info for a “Spring Fling”.  Anne and Jane suggested the Fireside which has been very successful in the past.  Norm also suggested the same venue  that we used last year …More to come on that……

The Next Happy Hour will be February 23 at Colorado Mining Co. the last    Happy hour was well attended and very successful.

Communications-

The Shussboomer- Karen pointed out that there was a blank page in this months Boomer.  This situation will be resolved so that it does not happen again.  There is a lot of material coming to the Boomer including more bios.

Website- Arley is working on different places to give benefits to members including Cunninghams in Lake Placid and EMS (we can maybe come in a day early). At Gore Mountain the price of the ticket is 50% off with a Lab season pass. After the club NASTAR races on Sundays, there are get togethers in The Last Run where  members of the Ski Hawkes and others join us.  The Onondaga Cup will be held on Saturday, February  26 at 2PM.  The price will be $20 with a Lab pass and $40 without a pass.  This pays for the ticket (if you don’t have a pass), the trophies and the après race party.  Arley is hoping to invite colleges other than Syracuse University.  Last year 74 skiers participated.  Arley is also going to visit the Ski Hawkes and GE Ski Club to promote racing.  It is hoped that the race will make money. There was a discussion on the best place to put events on a page listed as “calendar”.  Unfortunately the web page is underutilized with about 30 hits a day.

The Lodge- The lodge has been very busy.  Family weekends are being planned throughout the year.  Also it is very important to stay in the room that you reserved.                       Arriving at 2AM and finding someone in your bed is very difficult. Dick Butler is going to post a list of rules at the Lodge.  Also there will be membership applications available at the Lodge.

Old business

Insurance- No new information

Ski Movie- Joe is looking for a venue for October or November.  Christa has offered to help out.

New Business

Arm Bands- Mike McCabe has ordered armbands for skiers (bikers etc) to wear during activities.  He has done this at his own expense.  This will make OSCers visible on the hills.

New Logo- Karen Whedon suggested we have a contest to design a new logo.

Red Barn Winery- Joe Cali suggested the Red Barn as a place to hold our board meeting.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:40 PM

Respectfully submitted,

Anne Sonne
