Committee Reports

Membership- Jack reported that 382 members have renewed.  248 members from last year have not renewed as of yet.  Jack will be sending out reminders to those who have not yet renewed.  So far 38 members have requested a paper Boomer.

Communication- Arley discussed the issues of downloading the Boomer.  These will be resolved starting January.  Marv Patnode, our new Boomer editor, is busy revising the format of the Boomer.  Any one who is currently advertising and has paid will be receive a paper Boomer.  Past presidents and other groups who have been receiving a copy of the Boomer will have to access it from the Website unless they pay the $10 fee. A committee of John Sonne, Jane, and Mary has been appointed to decide definitively who would get a free paper Boomer.

Trips- Leo reported that there are 25 paid reservations for Tremblant.  There are still spaces left.  Several people have indicated they may join the group at Tremblant but Leo pointed out that rooms would be guaranteed only for those who have paid reservations with him.

John reported that the trip to Aspen will not take place.  The exact liability to the club is not yet known but it will be at least $1000.  Art Holbin needs to find out the details from Bruce Way.

Far Hills has been canceled.  Garnet Hill is all set to go.

Lodge- There is still an issue with the state and the insurance coverage.  Dick Butler has been working to find out necessary answers. Discount ski tickets are available for Killington and Sugarbush.  There was a discussion on members who buy large amounts of discount ski tickets. Dick also pointed out that members need to buy the tickets in a timely manner, as the tickets are not released until they are paid for.

Nominating committee- Arley is going to be appointing members to the committee.  There are usually about 5 members on the committee.

Outings- John Whelan reported that there will be ice-skating on Wednesday afternoons around noon.

Social-The next night on the town will be on Friday, December 16th at Redfield’s at the Marx Hotel.  Unfortunately it was listed in the Boomer for Saturday, December 17th.  The next Happy Hour will be at the Craftsman Inn in Fayetteville on December 28th from 5:30 to 7:00.   Dick Butler suggested that we organize a night in February to go to Highland Forrest to participate in their Valentine’s Day dinner and sleighride.  The cost is $75 per couple.

New Business

Onondaga Cup-The Cup Race will take place on February 26, 2006.  Arley is trying to organize a bigger, better race with at least 150 racers.  He is trying to get even more involvement from SU.  There was some discussion about serving beer and our liability.

Music- It was moved by Leo Naylor to allow John Piston and Alex Rose play the dulcimer before and after the December general meeting at no charge to the club.  The motion was passed.

Emergency Housing- A former member has requested that we solicit members who would be available to provide housing in case of emergency. This would be under the Auspices of the Board of Realtors and the State Emergency Management Office made the request.   It was decided to table the request until we learn more information.

Free Weekend-The young professional groups have requested another free weekend. Chris Anderson suggested that by offering another free weekend we could get some additional members (about 6 of 20 have joined).  The Lodge Committee has decided not to offer another free weekend.  Karen Whedon made a motion that the request by CNY Spark and Edge for another free weekend at the lodge be denied due to the financial loss to the club (for rooms not rented) and as discussed by the board and agreed on by the Lodge Committee.  The motion was passed.

Lodge Appointment- Scott Foster will be the new co-chair for the lodge committee.

50-50 money- Scott requested in an e-mail that the board approve using the 50-50 money to supplement a young man whom is going on the trip to Innsbrook. The board decided that this was not an appropriate issue for the club.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:47 PM.

Respectfully submitted,

Anne Sonne, Recording Secretary
