Committee Reports

Membership- Jack reported that presently there are 464 members-this includes 419 regular members, 7 junior members, 6 active presidents, and 32 commercial members.  It was suggested that perhaps next year we send bills as a reminder to renew.

Outings- Terry reported that there are no events presently planned.  Jane and Jack brought up that there is some interest in the attempt to introduce members to cross country skiing.  As the season progresses, a plan will be developed that may include meeting at a certain area to help skiers familiarize themselves with the ski equipment and give them some basic ski techniques.

Communications- The Boomer has been well received.

Lodge- Business at the lodge has been steady.  Ski tickets for the various ski areas are available from Bill Beaudin.  These tickets are advertised in the Boomer and are sold to OSC members at a reduced rate.  It is important that OSCers take their membership cards with them when these are used.  These tickets are not for resale.

Trips- Leo reported that there 39 paid people for the trip to Mt. Tremblant (March 4-7).  There are additional people that have expressed interest.  There is room for 42 skiers so Leo says he will have no trouble filling the remaining spots.  However when the trip is filled he will put names on a waiting list.

Social-  Mary Clay who is organizing the Happy Hours reported that the next one will be December 29 at Scotch and Sirloin from 5:30-7.  The next two Happy Hours will be at Colorado Mining Co. on 1/26 and 2/23.  Tennis players will be meeting at Gold’s Gym on 12/29 from 3:30-5:00 and on 1/14 from 6-7:30.  Night out will be 12/17 at the Inn Between in Camillus.   Call Norm for reservations.

Old Business

Ski movie- Joe Cali reported that he is continuing to look into ski movies.  He is going to investigate Rage Films (in lieu of Warren Miller fare).  He stated the Rage films has a 20 something viewpoint on skiing with lots of fascinating footage.  He also hopes to make it into a big event with vendors, door prizes and ski shops.  We are looking at a date between October and December.

Vendors- We are continuing to look into vendors to set up tables at meetings.  We would charge them a small fee.

New Business

Nominating Committee- Kay Kotwas has set up her nominating committee.  Those on the committee are Marion LaPierre, Norm Pyzynski, Marilyn McCabe, Mike McCabe and Diane Clark.  These members will be put before the membership for approval the January meeting.  The nominating committee meeting will be held at Kay,s house on January 6.

Capitol District Ski Council- Leo suggested that we join the Capitol District Ski Council in order to get some of the reduced price ski tickets that re available through them.  We are going to get more information on joining them.

Ski Hawks-We would like to let them know they are welcome at the Happy Hours.  Some of the Hawks are already members of OSC but others may be interested in meeting us.

Special Olympics- Mike McCabe sent an e-mail to Scott suggesting that we participate somehow in the Special Olympics.  Scott put that out to the board but indicated that at this time he could not offer his services to that project.

Salmon Hills- Arley said that Salmon Hills is offering a chat type board on the internet and wanted to know if we would be interested.  The board felt that since we had our own e-mail system that we did not need to participate in a Salmon Hills chat room.

The meeting was adjourned at 9:05

Respectfully submitted,

Anne Sonne – Recording Secretary
