Committee Reports

Nominating Committee: Since Arley Morey was not at tonight’s meeting, he will report at our next board meeting.

Communications:

Updating Web: Marvin reported the website is being updated regularly. Marvin and Arley are working on this together.

Trip Committee: Leo Naylor reported that Bruce Way had reported to him that the Aspen trip does not have the numbers yet. Leo reported there are 18 paid for the Tremblant trip in March. At least 30 people will be necessary to run the trip. Scott reported that Innsbruck has been reconfigured several times. It is still filled with only 2 on the waiting list. John Whelan reported that Garnett Hill trip has room for 3 more people. They will fill 3 houses. Far Hills trip is not filled yet.

Long Range Planning. Marvin Patnode reported the Long Range Planning Committee had met last week. Marian Jerose had contributed good information regarding advertising, how to handle ads, rates to charge, etc. A proposal will be submitted to the Board when it is complete. The next meeting for the Long Range Planning will be sometime the first week in December. The date will be listed on our OSC Website.

Lodge Committee: Dick Butler reported the Work Weekend a few weeks ago was very successful. The bathroom upstairs was gutted with all new fixtures. There were minor improvements and cleaning completed. Dick reported our insurance agent did a walk through at the Lodge and sent recommendations for us to address. Dick met with Scott Adams the Assistant Vermont State Fire Marshall for a walk through also. The recommended updating in smoke alarms was discussed. Dick is waiting to receive names of electrician from the Vermont area so he can meet with them and get estimates for any recommended updates.

Membership: Jack Lancette reported we have 290 renewals. 28 have signed up for the paper boomer, when we change over to on line Boomers in January. We have 614 total active members, which includes Past Presidents, regular and junior members.

Outings: John Whelan reported the last two hikes he has led to Ithaca and to Morgan Hill were well attended. Terry Avery reported he has 24 members signed up for his Camping Outing to Moffett Beach next summer July 30.

Hospitality: Louise reported there were just a few new prospective members at our October meeting. The OSC Brochure will be printed and ready for our meeting next week.

Ski Film: It was reported there were about 140 attending the ski film at the Palace Theater on October 22. The movie was disappointing. Everyone thought the Aspen film was good. OSC promoted the film to get more people interested in skiing, but the film was presented by the Palace Theater. OSC was not involved in any financial part of this presentation.

Program Committee: Some ideas were discussed but no action taken. Signing up for the trips will be the focus of our meeting next week.

There was no Old Business or New Business.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:09 P.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Jane McCarthy, Acting Recording Secretary
