Board Meeting
October 4, 2005
President Scott Severance called the meeting to order at 7:11 PM.
Members present- Scott Severance, Anne Sonne, Bill Beaudin, Marv Patnode, Terry Avery, Jane McCarthy, Tom Button, Jack Lancette, Leo Naylor, Tom Button, Jan Carr, John Sonne, Mary Clay, Judy Swanson, Karen Whedon, Cathie Bass, John Whelan, Louise Beaubiah, Kurt Londhair

Welcome- Scott welcomed Cathie Bass as our newest board member.
Secretary’s Report- accepted
Treasurer’s report- accepted. There was a discussion about the fees for ads and how they will fit into the E-Boomer. This issue will be looked into as the E-Boomer becomes more established. Terry suggested that we make the details of the treasurer’s report available. He made a motion to post the treasurer’s report at the general meetings. The motion was seconded and passed.
Membership- There is 595 members. So far 17 members have indicated that they want the paper Boomer. Jack is receiving about 5-6 new renewals per day.
Trip Committee Meeting- The new committee members are Leo Naylor, Bruce Way, Terry Avery. Art Holbin will continue to serve as Chairperson. Leo was elected Vice-Chair. They discussed ways to recruit new trip leaders. Scott is serving as an ex-officio member.
Long- Range planning- There is a continuing dialogue on attracting new members especially younger people. The next meeting of the committee will be in October. Marv will send out an e-mail on the exact date and time.
Lodge Committee- There is a full house for Columbus Day Weekend. The rates have increased from $34.00 to $36.00 for a private room and from $16.00 to $18.00 for a dorm bed as of October 1. There have been dates for families set aside- These are February 20-26, April 10-15, May 12-13. The weekend planned for October with Spark and CNY Edge took place as planned with 18 people attending and Scott and Leo hosting. There was a big interest in skiing, especially ski racing. Leo feels that allot of enthusiasm were generated in general. Lisa Riposa, president of CNY Spark (and daughter of Malewskis) is going to attend the next general meeting and provide a table for new Spark or Edge members. There also was a question about the discount ski area tickets that we sell and who can purchase them. They are strictly for personal use of club members and are not for resale.
Outings- Terry has planned 2 hikes for members going to the Lodge this Columbus Day weekend. John Whelan is going to lead a hike in the Adirondacks on October 15 and will also hike in the Ithaca area on October 22. Details will be posted on the web.
Social- There will be a Happy Hour at Colorado Mining on Wednesday, October 26 from 5:30 to 7:00PM. The next night out will be at Kelley’s on Velasko Road on October 14- cocktails at 5:30 and dinner at 6:30. The Road Rally will be held on October 16. Art Zimmer will host the post rally party. A Halloween Party is planned for Monday, October 31 at the Spaghetti Warehouse at 6PM.
Hospitality- Louise reported that she made contact with one new member at the last meeting. She will be keeping her eye out for new members at future meetings.
Ski Movie-The
night is shaping up with Sallie Dannon in charge. It will be held at the Palace Theater on October 22.
Program Committee- John Sonne and Tom Button reported that Okemo, Lab and Bristol Mountain will have tables at the next general meeting.
Painting Purchase- It was decided that we are going to table a decision about Fred Thrane’s painting of the skier which is being sold by his nephew. Dick Butler said there was a discussion about the painting and the feeling was that Fred’s nephew should be requested to donate the painting in Fred’s honor.
Name tags- The
board decided to retain the red plastic nametags that have been used in the
past. She will have them made up for
new members.
