Membership- There is 447 active members in the club down from 590 last year. Jack feels that many members will join during the upcoming year. Jack sent out the renewal letter on December 19. Also there will be renewals from the Boomer and other sources.
Outings- John reported that ice-skating continues on Wednesdays at Sunnycrest. John is planning a cross-country ski outing this Sunday, January 8. The location will depend on the weather.
Long Range planning There will be a meeting January 12, 2006 to discuss how to replace the income that has been lost by the Ski Sale.
Boomer- The January Boomer is available on the website. 253 Boomers were mailed. This included non- renewals, commercial members and members who have paid for a paper Boomer. The cost of the Boomer is $180 per 100.
Website- Arley reported that ads are available on the “support team” part of the website. He also suggested that for those who have slow dial up computers can access the Boomer and print it out at the library. Jack also pointed out that through a link all the pages could be printed at once.
Trips- The Innsbrook trip is filled with a waiting list. There are 30 people going to Tremblant. Leo is working on the Aspen trip refund. He is waiting to hear whether we will get a refund of $1000 or $2000. There will be a trip committee meeting to plan for trips next year. Judy Swanson explained the history of the trip committee for those board members who were not familiar with the background. There was a subsequent discussion on the reorganization of the trip committee. Judy also pointed out that the role of the trip committee was to guide members who intended to lead trips.
Onondaga Cup Race- (February 26 at Labrador) Arley is trying to enlist more college racers for the Cup this year. He pointed out that these college students might settle in CNY and join the ski club in the future. Arley is also looking for a sponsor like a car dealer to underwrite some of the expenses. Last year the club charged $20 per person plus the cost of the ticket. He hopes that the cost may be $15 if enough people sign up.
Nominating Committee- Arley Morey has appointed Kay Kotwas, Dave Seguin, Lou Wassel, Anne Chandler and Marian Lapierre to the committee. The board approved it. Positions that need to be filled are President, second vice president, recording secretary, and 4 board members.
Free Housing- Leo explained that he went to CNY Edge and Spark and explained that they would not be able to use the lodge with compliments of the club as they did in the fall because it is a high occupancy time and that the club needs the income. Chris Anderson pointed out that by joining the club a new member is entitled to a free night at the lodge.
Vanguard investments- Mary Clay made a motion to use $8000 from the Vanguard fund for the improvements that are necessary at the lodge to comply with insurance regulations. The motion was passed.
John moved that we spend $125 for checks and envelopes. The motion was passed.
The meeting we adjourned at 8:45.
Respectfully submitted,
Anne Sonne, recording secretary
